Mardi Gras is a very busy time for most people in the New Orleans area. Realtors are no exception. Many people visit our City from all over the world at this time. It is a great time to get to know the City, but not necessarily the best time to shop for a house. Everyone tends to be a little more laid back during the two weeks leading up to Mardi Gras. Our schedules center around the parades and carnival balls, so keeping a home ready to show at a moment's notice is not exactly easy. Visitors should keep this in mind when looking for a home in the area. Mardi Gras is a great time to visit, but save your house-hunting for another time.
This year we New Orleanians have the wonderful dilemma of whether to go to the Bacchus Parade or stay home and watch our own Eli Manning and the New York Giants in the Superbowl! If the Saints can't be in the Superbowl, the next best thing is having a Manning there.
The Rex Parade will be the highlight of all parades on Mardi Gras day with the announcement that "The Golden Band From Tigerland," LSU's marching band, will be marching in this year's parade. This is only the second time that the band will march. Each time it has been in celebration of the Tigers' win of the BCS title.
